چکیده

Thanks to its ability to yield functionally-based information, the three-dimensional (3D) SPECT imagery technique has become a great help in the diagnostic of cerebrovascular diseases. Nevertheless, due to the imaging process, the 3D SPECT images are blurred and consequently their interpretation by the clinician is often difficult. In order to improve the resolution of these images and then to facilitate their interpretation, we propose herein, to extend a recent image blind deconvolution technique (called the NAS-RIF technique) in order to improve both the spatial and the interslice resolution of SPECT volumes. This scheme requires a preliminary step in order to find the support of the object to be restored. In this paper, we propose to solve this problem thanks to an unsupervised 3D Markovian segmentation technique. This method has been successfully tested on numerous real and simulated brain SPECT volumes, yielding very promising restoration results1.

Image Restoration Using Functional and Anatomical Information Fusion with Application to SPECT-MRI Images

Image restoration is usually viewed as an ill-posed problem in image processing, since there is no unique solution associated with it. The quality of restored image closely depends on the constraints imposed of the characteristics of the solution. In this paper, we propose an original extension of the NAS-RIF restoration technique by using information fusion as prior information with applicatio...

Evaluation of methods to detect interhemispheric asymmetry on cerebral perfusion SPECT: application to epilepsy.

UNLABELLED Detecting perfusion interhemispheric asymmetry in neurologic nuclear medicine imaging is an interesting approach to epilepsy. METHODS This study compared 4 methods that detect interhemispheric asymmetries of brain perfusion in SPECT. The first (M1) was conventional side-by-side expert-based visual interpretation of SPECT. The second (M2) was visual interpretation assisted by an int...

Evaluation of role of brain SPECT in diagnosis of post stroke dementia [Persian]

Post stroke dementia is one of the most common complications of stroke that is preventable and relatively treatable too. The purpose of the study is comparison between the positive findings in brain CT scan and brain perfusion SPECT. 15 patients who were complicated by dementia after cerebrovascular accident and also 5 patients as a control group enrolled in this study. Brain CT scan and ...

Iterative 3D bayesian restoration method of SPECT volumes (OSEM-R) - Application in striatal imaging

SPECT imaging suffers from low spatial resolution and statistical noise. Consequently, the contrast of small structures is reduced, visual detection of defects is limited and exact quantification is difficult. To improve the contrast, it is possible to incorporate a blurring model into the iterative reconstruction process such as OSEM3D. This approach is well known to be effective, but time con...

Segmentation and Classification of Brain Spect Images Using 3d Markov Random Field and Density Mixture Estimations

Thanks to its ability to yield functionally rather than anatomicallybased information, the SPECT imagery technique has become a great help in the diagnostic of cerebrovascular diseases. Nevertheless, SPECT images are very noisy and consequently their interpretation is difficult. In order to facilitate this visualization, we propose an unsupervised 3D Markovian model allowing to segment a brain ...
